An Arizona non-binary individual who had sinus issues and breathing issues since childhood recently learned the cause: a Lego piece lodged in their nose for nearly three decades.

Andi Norton, 32, made a shocking discovery while showering when a small yellow piece became dislodged from their nose. According to the Daily Mail, Norton revealed that they had inserted a small, circular yellow dot up their nostril when they were six years old while playing with their Lego collection. When they realized the dot was stuck, they attempted a daring rescue by using a Lego figurine to try to clip onto the lodged piece. Unfortunately, the head of the figurine became stuck as well. Norton’s mother then used tweezers to extract the figurine, unaware that the original piece remained trapped in their sinus cavity for the next few years.

Norton had chronic sinus issues throughout their life, which they always assumed were due to allergies. “I’m allergic to cats, dogs, grass, and dust, so I just assumed my congestion was related to that,” they explained to Newsweek. However, the Lego piece may have contributed to their breathing issues, including obstructive sleep apnea.

Norton later shared the discovery on Instagram. The post quickly went viral after being shared. He described it as a massive release, similar to pulling out a plug.

“I’ve been regularly blowing my nose in the shower for the past six months, and today, I finally blew out a Lego dot that’s been in my nose for 26 years,”

While Norton plans to consult a doctor, they’ve kept the Lego piece as a humorous keepsake. The story, which was originally posted on Reddit, garnered four million views before being removed from a “mildly interesting” thread for being “too interesting.”
