On Monday, March 14, Peacock,Broadway Video and Universal Television hosted a star-studded in-world backyard barbecue cookout and episode screening to celebrate the recent launch of the much-anticipated unconventional new comedy Bust Down at the Academy Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. All six episodes of the new comedy series Bust Down — about four casino employees living dead-end lives with dead-end jobs in middle America, and the massive mess they manage to make out of it — are now streaming only on Peacock.
Upon arrival, VIP guests were greeted by the series’ casino-inspired glittering neon lights and transported into the world of Bust Down in Gary, Indiana. In true Bust Down fashion, the screening exuded the casual and laid-back feel of the comedy series as guests were seated in lawn chairs and treated to music by DJ Antman Wonder.
Guests included the BUST DOWN creators, stars and executive producers Sam Jay (PAUSE with Sam Jay),Langston Kerman (Insecure, The Boys), Jak Knight (Big Mouth, Black-Ish), and Chris Redd (SNL, Kenan), recurring guest stars Freddie Gibbs (hip-hop artist) and Dominque Perry (Insecure), along with EPs Andrew Singer, Hilary Marx and Co-EP Guy Stodel.
Additional notable guests included Lena Waithe (The Chi), Echo Kellum (Grand Crew), Angela Lewis (Snowfall),Haskiri Velazquez (Peacock’s Saved by the Bell), Dexter Darden (Peacock’s Saved by the Bell), Jabari Banks(Peacock’s Bel-Air), Jordan L. Jones (Peacock’s Bel-Air) and Olly Sholotan (Peacock’s Bel-Air), Alycia Pascual-Peña (Peacock’s Saved by the Bell), Prentice Penny(Insecure),Skye Townsend (Black Lady Sketch Show) and executives.
Inspired by the creators’ favorite episode, the festive backyard after-party included a delicious barbecue feast from LA-favorite Bludso’s BBQ, custom curated cocktails, favorite backyard style games including super-sized Bust Down branded versions of Connect Four, Jenga, Corn Hole and Dominoes, and a unique photo booth recreation of Chris’ VIP area straight from the episode.
