The TikToker who recorded the now-viral video of a Canadian dad being murdered in Vancouver over an argument about vape smoking has responded to the backlash he received for smiling while the victim was laying in his own pool of blood. As we previously reported, Paul Schmidt was killed on Sunday evening in the presence of his fiancée and daughter after he got into a dispute with a man named Inderdeep Singh Gosal, who has since been charged with second-degree murder.
Schmidt had reportedly asked Gosal if he could not smoke his vape around his daughter. A scuffle ensued shortly after, resulting in Gosal allegedly knifing Schmidt to death, as shown in the video recorded by Alex Bodger. In the clip posted online, Bodger, who is known as Gora Pakora on TikTok, is heard saying, “This motherf— just died, bro. He just died, bro, holy f—!” before turning the camera on himself and smiling next to Schmidt’s lifeless body.

He has since explained his reasons for the bizarre facial expression in an interview with Global News saying, “I was so uncomfortable. I didn’t know what just happened. That’s how I always am in uncomfortable situations. I put a little bit of a smile on my face. I’m sorry for the people that it pissed off.” Bodger then went on to add, “Yeah, this s— (the stabbing), it doesn’t faze me too much. I’ll just say human life, to me, the way I look at it, if I don’t know you, is meaningless … he’s dead. What can we do now?”
A GoFundMe page, set up to provide aid to the family of Paul Stanley Schmidt, who was tragically killed in Metro Vancouver this weekend, has raised more than $135,000 in support of his daughter.
On Sunday afternoon, Paul Schmidt had been standing outside the Starbucks Reserve on the corner of Pender and Granville when the commotion started. His fiancee was inside procuring refreshments and it is believed that he asked a person close by to keep away from vaping around his little girl, who was sitting in a stroller and was three years old.
Jessica Schmidt urged readers to not watch the videos which depict the stabbing and to come forward to the police if they witnessed anything in the area.
Mike Farnworth, the British Columbia Public Safety Minister, stated on Tuesday that the incident that took place outside of Starbucks was “absolutely appalling”.

He expressed his shock and sorrow by saying that there are no words that can express the awfulness of what happened. He then noted that this issue is not only present in Vancouver, British Columbia but is occurring nationwide, citing the tragedy of Gabriel Magalhaes in Toronto on the weekend as an example.
