Oop! Paul Pierce Says Carmelo Anthony Is Tougher To Guard Than LeBron James Or Kobe Bryant

In a  recent interview with ‘I AM ATHLETE,’ Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce spoke with the show’s hosts — Brandon Marshall, Lesean “Shady” McCoy, and DeSean “DJax” Jackson — about how the Big Three began with Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen; his memories with the late and great Kobe Bryant (on and off the court); and also his stories of high school LeBron James playing in an NBA All-Star game.

Pierce also explained his truth behind getting fired from ESPN on his day off, and among all these topics, he speaks on Carmelo Anthony being the toughest NBA player to guard — even tougher than Kobe and LeBron.

At one point during the conversation, Pierce is asked who does he think is an underrated baller in the NBA. He says, “To me Melo, dawg. LIsten. I’d rather guard, LeBron, Kobe, T-Mac, before Melo. Daawg.”

When asked why he firmly believes Melo is the toughest player to guard, Pierce continues to explain, “Daawg. He used to hurt my chest. He’s a bulldog. He’s a bulldog. He’s gonna be physical. He’s gonna post you up. He’s gonna hit you with the shoulder in the chest. You’re going to be hurting after the game. Like, nah, dawg. Melo, he’s going to make you feel this 30. Other cats, they are going to finesse their 30. Nah, you’re going to be hurting with Melo.”

The show’s hosts all speak out in agreement, and note that Melo can be aggressive with his offense. Pierce agrees and says, “That’s why I’m saying. He’s aggressive, dawg. Man, he’s going to throw elbows.”

Pierce is then asked by the hosts who he thinks is the most overrated player in the league. Pierce thinks about it and says, “I’m going to say Richard Jefferson.” Everybody, including Pierce breaks out in laughter.
