New England Patriots star James White missed Sunday’s game after his father was killed in a car horrific crash, that also left his mother in critical condition.

White’s dad, Tyrone was a captain in the Miami-Dade Police Department. He was off-duty at the time of the crash. Per TMZ, officers report that they responded to a two-car accident, one vehicle was flipped over and the other was on fire. Tyrone was pronounced dead at the scene.

Yesterday, the Patriots revealed that White would be inactive for Sunday night’s game, where they lost 35-30.

“So heartbroken to hear the news of the tragedy of my great friend and forever teammate,” said Tom Brady, who had played with White for years. “There are few people that come into your life that do EVERYTHING the right way… James is one of them.”
