Patrick Mahomes Becomes Youngest Owner In Sports With Stake In Kansas City Royals

24-year-old Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes has just become the youngest owner in sports after taking a minority stake in the MLB’s Kansas City Royals team.

The Royals officially announced on Tuesday that the Chiefs quarterback has become a newest member of the ownership group. The move arrives after Mahomes, who grew up playing football and baseball, led his team to victory at Super Bowl LIV, spawning a new 10-year contract extension, valued at $503 million.

Additionally, Mahomes says, “I’m honored to become a part owner of the Kansas City Royals. I love this city and the people of this great town. This opportunity allows me to deepen my roots in this community, which is something I’m excited to do.”

Meanwhile, Royals principal owner John Sherman stated, “We are very proud and excited to have Patrick as our partner in the ownership group of this franchise. Along with the rest of Kansas City, I have watched Patrick compete and become an extraordinary leader, both on and off the football field.”
