Milwaukee Bucks guard Pat Beverley addressed a video that captured him throwing a ball at a spectator during Thursday’s game, stating that it was misleading.

However, he also acknowledged that he needs to improve his behavior. The incident occurred during the last 2 ½ minutes of Milwaukee’s Game 6 loss to Indiana, which resulted in the Bucks being eliminated from the playoffs. After a fan threw the ball back to Beverley, he retaliated by throwing it back at the spectator while sitting on the bench.

When questioned about the incident during a post-game interview with reporters, Beverley chose not to respond. However, he did comment on a social media post that featured the video, stating, “Not fair at all. Exchanges between a fan and our team occurred throughout the night. We repeatedly asked for assistance and warnings all night. It is not fair.” 6 hours later, Beverly also added another post saying, “But I have to do better and I will.” During his postgame media session, Beverley refused to allow a specific journalist to ask a question after learning that she had not subscribed to his podcast.

He instructed her to remove her microphone from his face and eventually requested her to leave the interview circle.

Bucks coach Doc Rivers said he had a conversation with Beverley. “That’s not the Milwaukee way or the Bucks way,” Rivers said. “We’re better than that. Pat feels awful about that. He also understands emotionally — this is an emotional game and things happen — unfortunately, you’re judged immediately and he let the emotions get the better of him.”

He added, “I had not seen that interview,” Rivers said. “I just heard that that happened. So we talked about that and then the ball-throwing incident. And he made the comment to me about what was being said back his way and I just said, ‘I get it, but we’re coaches and athletes, we’re the entertainers or whatever we are. Sometimes they can be in the wrong, but you just can’t do those certain things.’ And he knows that as well.”
