Sylvester Ofori,35, shot and killed 27-year-old Barbara Tommey at the Navy Federal Credit Union near the Mall at Millenia shortly before 9 a.m. A spokesman from the Orlando Police Department said Ofori was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder with a firearm later that evening. Ofori’s crime comes as shock since he is a famous pastor who runs the Floodgates of Heaven International Ministries and has over 60,000 followers on Facebook. The Orlando Sentinel said in their report that a day before the shooting, Ofori posted a photo on his Facebook with the caption, “One thing ppl gotta understand about extremely kind, nice, loving people is that their other side is just as EXTREME.”

The couple was in the process of a divorce before the shooting and she didn’t live in their apartment for months.  A video circulating on social media shows the moment Ofori is threatening to shoot and kill Tommey while he was arguing with her brother. Her brother tells Tommey to take the situation seriously by filing a police report so she could file a restraining order for the future.

The Orlando Police Department said in a statement that a motive for the shooting has yet to be revealed and there wasn’t a documented history of domestic violence. They were married for five years and Ofori was previously arrested in February after the couple was spotted arguing in a parking lot.

“The background story and previous dealings with them, be it through our calls for service should there have been any or any previous incidents between them will be identified at a later time,”

After receiving the news, followers of the church sent their condolences to Tommey’s family and said Ofori was a self-proclaimed prophet.
