A pastor is currently receiving backlash on social media for his comments about women who wear shorts.

According to the journalist/author Julie Roys, pastor Leman recently spoke to his congregation and seemingly defended men who rape women. While speaking at the pulpit the pastor said that you will see more women in stores wearing shorts than you see wearing pants. “If you dress like that and you bet raped and I’m on the jury he’s going to go free because a man is a man.”

After his shocking comments began to surface on the internet, thousands of people weighed in on the topic. “This is yet another reminder that there is no context where a pastor should still be leading a church into their 80’s. This man is clearly well into senility and needs to be removed immediately for his own well-being and the well-being of his church,” one X user shared.

“Good gravy!! Men of the congregation need to call this filth out and swift action should be taken. We cannot tolerate this stuff. It’s atrocious. Want to know why people are leaving the church or looking elsewhere for guidance and counsel? Look no further,” another person said.

Though is not clear what church the pastor preaches at nor is it clear of his background social media users are disgusted with the words he used.

Rape is an abhorrent and heinous crime that violates the fundamental human rights of the victim. It is an act of violence that leaves lasting physical, emotional, and psychological scars on the survivor. Rape is not only morally reprehensible but also illegal in every jurisdiction around the world.

One of the key reasons why rape is wrong is that it violates the principle of consent. Consent is the cornerstone of any healthy sexual relationship. When someone is forced or coerced into a sexual act without their consent, it is a clear violation of their autonomy and agency. No one has the right to impose their will on another person in such a brutal and degrading manner.

Rape also perpetuates a culture of fear and oppression. When individuals are not held accountable for their actions, it sends a message that sexual violence is acceptable and that survivors will not receive justice. This perpetuates a cycle of abuse and trauma that can have devastating effects on individuals, families, and communities.
