A Texas mom who was reportedly dressed in an Easter Bunny costume accidentally gave out condoms to students at an elementary school instead of candy-filled plastic Easter eggs.

A simple mix up between condoms and candy caused chaos at the elementary school
Nathan Jensen wrote in a tweet last Thursday that someone handed out plastic eggs during afternoon dismissal at the Gullett Elementary School. However, he was in for a surprise when the eggs contained candy and unopened condoms. Jensen said a day later that the woman was picking up her second-grader from school when she was reportedly “mobbed by kids” who saw her handing out the eggs filled with candy. After running out of eggs, she apparently asked her husband to bring another batch but it was the batch containing the condoms.
The unidentified parent reportedly had another batch of easter eggs containing condoms and she was planning to hand them out at the local sexual health clinic.

The school responds to the incident and the district is currently reviewing its safety protocols
A statement was released by the Austin Independent School District where a spokesperson said a school official asked the parent to leave the campus but she continued to give the items out on a nearby sidewalk.
“We are working to review our safety protocols to ensure this does not happen again. It was an incredibly careless and inappropriate action of a parent.”
Principal Tammy Thompson wrote in a letter to parents confirming that the incident was not planned nor authorized by the school. Additionally, the letter stated the parent had a meeting with administrators about the “inappropriate nature of their activity” as reported by KXAN.
Currently, it is unclear if the parent will be charged for the incident after an investigation was launched by the Austin ISD Police Department.
