The idea was directed and produced by Noelle Chesnut Whitemore and auditions for the roles were held last month.  Whitemore told Medium that the concept started as a concept during a Clubhouse discussion with fellow creatives Bomani X and Myles Grier. While talking about the idea, she noticed another user, Chris “Boogie” Glover had the unique voice to perform as Mufasa and Myles started to recite Simba’s lines.

Since then, over 40 people have worked on the production and in response to the innovative idea, 5,000 Clubhouse users attended to the first showing. An encore performance will taken place at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST.
