The 114 students who took the exam on December 2 will have to retake it when authorities discovered the test provided was utilized in October 2021. The College Board indicated to school officials that the problem hinders them from scoring the exam accurately because they do not use previous exams. Greenwich High School is home to 77 of the 114 pupils. Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones stated that the situation will grow uncomfortable for kids as they are expected to relax during the holiday break.

“While this is a College Board process, we care deeply about our students and we should not have relied upon College Board to message swiftly. We fully understand how stressful this is for our students to be faced with taking the SAT again when they should be winding down for the break.”

The student’s parents said they were disappointed because this is when they are preparing college applications, and the subsequent testing date is scheduled in March. However, that exam is a digital version that the students are unfamiliar with. Students took the makeup exam on Saturday, Dec. 16, but this is considered short notice as some are already on holiday break, specifically for private school students.

Charlotte Oh explained to ABC 7 that she learned about the error during practice after receiving a notification about her makeup exam.
