Oop! CNN’s Don Lemon Throws His Old Buddy Jussie Smollett To The Wolves By Insisting He’s a LIAR Following Guilty Verdict
Don Lemon has been in the hot seat all week after Jussie Smollett testified on Monday that the CNN anchor texted him, warning him Chicago police did not believe him in his racial attack case.
Following his Smollet’s guilty verdict Thursday, Lemon finally spoke out but to condemned Smollett, saying he was a liar and someone who had made it far harder for real victims of hate crimes to come forward. Lemon, says he now feels betrayed by his old pal, has not discussed his communications with him.
“’He had to make up too many lies as to why he didn’t want to do certain things,’ said Lemon on Thursday night. “To cover. Like another lie – and I guess he got caught up in that because he took the stand himself.”
As we previously reported, the 39-year-old “Empire” alum was charged with six counts of disorderly conduct related to false statements to Chicago police officers about a 2019 hate crime against him. At the time he claimed that two men attacked him due to his skin color and sexual orientation. But, he was ultimately found guilty of lying. However, he was not found guilty on a sixth charge of telling a second detective he was an aggravated battery victim.
