Wild situation coming out of Ohio: Officials have issued a public health notice following the arrest of a sex worker who tested positive for HIV.
Linda Leccesse, the accused, has been charged with engaging in solicitation, a third-degree felony. Now, the latest incident, which occurred on Market Street in Marietta, Ohio, has raised concerns about the potential spread of the virus within the community.
The investigation revealed that Leccesse had been involved in sexual acts from January 2022 through May 13, and authorities have identified at least 211 individuals who had contact with her during that time. Faced with the urgent need to prevent further transmission, officers from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Marietta Police Department will be reaching out to these individuals via phone calls.

The purpose of these phone calls is to ensure that everyone who had contact with Leccesse seeks appropriate screening and, if necessary, treatment for HIV. Officials are keen on directing individuals to their local Health Departments, where they can receive the necessary support and guidance. They also note that these calls are not a scam.
As many are aware, HIV spreads at different rates depending on various factors, such as the individual’s viral load, the presence of other sexually transmitted infections, and the type of exposure. Generally, HIV can spread through unprotected sex, sharing needles, and from mother to child during childbirth or breastfeeding.
At present, there are no scheduled hearings for Linda Leccesse, and the legal proceedings surrounding the case are expected to unfold in the coming days.
