#Socialites, get into this wild story coming out of Arkansas: Parents of a two-month old found themselves in serious legal trouble after allegedly attempting to sell their son in exchange for a six-pack of beer and a $1,000 check.

On September 21, a concerned report was made to the authorities by the management of the Beaver Lake Hide-A-Way Campground in Rogers, Arkansas. The report detailed an alarming situation where the infant’s parents, identified as 21-year-old Darien Urban and 20-year-old Shalene Ehlers, were purportedly trying to give away their child for a mere six-pack of beer. Witnesses indicated that the couple had even drafted a letter to facilitate this troubling arrangement, stating their intention to hand over custody of their son.

When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they conducted interviews with several witnesses and uncovered a shocking “contract” that Urban and Ehlers had signed. This document was meant to transfer custody to an individual named Cody Nathaniel Martin, explicitly stating that the parents were relinquishing their rights to their baby for the agreed sum of money. The letter included a disclaimer that once signed, there would be no possibility of reversing the decision or contacting the parents again. It read, “I Darien Urban and Shalene Ehlers are signing our rights over to Cody Nathaniel Martin of our baby boy [redacted] for $1,000 on 09/21/2024. Disclaimer: After signing this there will be no changing yall two’s minds and to never contact again.”

Eyewitness accounts confirmed that the couple had indeed handed their baby over to someone at the campground in exchange for beer, and there were allegations that the infant was then passed to another individual for cash, although no financial transaction occurred.

Following their questioning, Urban and Ehlers claimed that their child was with this “adopting” individual. However, the couple who were visibly intoxicated was subsequently arrested and taken in for further inquiries by the sheriff’s department.

Both parents have been charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and attempting to accept a consideration for the relinquishment of their child, as stated in a probable cause affidavit provided by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.

As of September 23, Urban was released on a $50,000 bond, while Ehlers remains in custody under the same bond amount. Meanwhile, the Arkansas Department of Human Services has taken custody of the infant to ensure his safety and well-being during this distressing situation.
