The Shocking Incident at SeaTac Airport
Sha’Carri Richardson is back in the headlines, but this time it ain’t because she broke records or claimed another gold medal. Instead, it’s for the wrong reasons — after getting caught up in some legal trouble following a heated situation with her man.
According to reports, Sha’Carri, 25, allegedly got into a physical altercation with her boyfriend, fellow track star Christian Coleman, at SeaTac Airport in Washington State. TSA agents reported seeing a woman assaulting a man near the security checkpoint, and that woman was allegedly Sha’Carri.
Security footage reportedly shows things going from loud words to flying bodies. The report claims Richardson “shove[d] Coleman hard enough that it [sent] him crashing into a nearby column.” Law enforcement said Coleman tried to walk away, but Sha’Carri allegedly followed him, pushed him again, and even hit him with her headphones. TSA after that hard push, he went flying.
That’s when airport officers stepped in. After watching the footage themselves, they took Sha’Carri into custody on the spot.
Booked, But Still Holding It Down For Each Other
Sha’Carri was booked into SCORE Jail and charged with 4th-degree assault, but here’s where it gets even more complicated — neither one of them is admitting anything happened. In fact, despite the footage and witness reports, both Sha’Carri and Coleman denied any physical fight went down.
Coleman even “declined to be a victim” and didn’t press charges, according to the police report. Whew! Looks like these two are sticking with each other through thick and thin.
Despite the drama, the two — who’ve reportedly been dating for two years — showed up just days later at a track meet in Oregon on Thursday, as if nothing even happened. At the time of this writing, neither Sha’Carri nor Coleman has publicly spoken about the situation, and it’s still unclear exactly when she was released from jail.
