A man was arrested last week after he reportedly brought his pregnant 12-year-old “girlfriend” to a hospital so she can give birth to their child.

24-year-old Juan Miranda-Jara was arrested for rape on July 14 after staff at the Hillcrest Medical Center contacted Tulsa police about a 12-year-old girl in labor. While speaking with officers, Miranda-Jara allegedly confessed that he had a “relationship” with the child since October of last year along with being the baby’s father, and was confused as to why officers were sent to the hospital. The minor later gave birth to a baby girl and was released from the hospital but Miranda-Jara was arrested and charged with first-degree rape.
On his now-deleted Facebook pages, Miranda-Jara posted photos of the baby shower and reportedly relatives showed their support of the “relationship.”

According to the Daily Mail, it is unclear how Miranda-Jara met the child and started the relationship along with how she maintained the pregnancy without authorities being notified about it. He may face an additional charge for the minor’s pregnancy.
He is currently in jail on a $50,000 bond and a court appearance is scheduled for August 26.
