Oklahoma Cops Face Murder Charges For Using Taser On Man Over 50 Times

A pair of Oklahoma officers are facing murder charges after a man died due to them using the taser on him over 50 times.

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, Wilson police officers Joshua Taylor, 25, and Brandon Dingman, 34, surrendered to the authorities on Thursday on second-degree murder charges for the July 2019 death of Jared Lakey.

The 28-year-old succumbed to his injuries in the hospital after being hit with the stun guns “multiple times.” The officers claim that he was resisting and ignoring commands.

Taylor and Dingman initially responded to a report of a man running down the street naked while screaming. Dingman reportedly used his Taser 23 times – for a total of 114 seconds, and Taylor used his stun gun on Lakey more than 30 times. Lakey was not a threat to the officers and did not approach them. They also failed to subdue him with their hands which is against apartment policy.

Lakey stopped breathing after he was taken into custody. He suffered multiple heart attacks and “critical coronary atherosclerosis and law enforcement use of electrical weapon and restraint.”

The officers have since been released on $250,000 bond.
