A Canadian oil company is facing backlash after their logo displayed a disturbing image of teen climate change activist Greta Thunberg.
CTV News reports the Alberta-based company X-Site Energy Services’ logo depicts a pair of hands holding the braids of a woman from behind and a lower back tattoo saying “Greta.” The image caught the attention of several social media users after Michelle Naran shared the logo on her Facebook page:

“It was hurtful as a woman. It was hurtful as a mother. It was hurtful as an Albertan who’s fighting for this industry all of the time and defending the hard work that men and women are doing each and every day and our amazing Canadian energy industry.”

Narang said she contacted the company in order to speak with general manager Doug Sparrow. She was told that the company was aware of the logo and saw no issues with its underlying message:
“I was like, ‘OK, so you’re OK with your company being promoted with the image of the rape of a minor? And his response was, ‘She is not a minor. She’s 17 now.’ Then carried on by, ‘That’s not really what we meant.'”
However, Velocity Graphics, the company that X-Site worked with for their logo issued a statement saying they were unaware of its inappropriate imagery.
“It has been a very long time since I have seen stickers leave our shop for them. This being said any future work/requests related to this company will be suspended immediately!”
