Ohio Boy Saves Brother From Car Fire And Sustains Severe Burns

A six-year-old boy was found shielding his little brother while their mother’s car was on fire.

Lesha Newson parked her car in a parking lot where she went inside a store to pick up a prescription before the vehicle caught on fire. After exiting the store, she saw her car engulfed in flames while her sons, Dean,6, and his brother Elijah were still inside. However, Dean said he put Elijah in the trunk and stood before him so he wouldn’t get burned.

Several witnesses rushed to the car and pulled the boys out before the vehicle exploded. Dean sustained second and third-degree burns on his face, arms, and legs. Newson said he referred to himself as Spider-Man after waking up at the Metro Health center in Cleveland.

“I would have never thought he would put his brother in a trunk and stand in front of him so he won’t get burned. That’s very selfless for a 6-year-old.”

“He said, ‘I’m Spider-Man, Mom. I saved my brother.’ That was the first thing he said to me when we got here, and he woke up,” she told WOIO. Newson said she’s learned from this horrifying experience and won’t leave the boys unattended in the car again. She bought the car two months ago, but it is unclear how the fire started.

“In three minutes, you never know what can happen,”

A video made its rounds on social media when a boy rescued his baby sister from falling off the couch. In the clip, the siblings are watching TV when the toddler bends over the sofa and overturns, almost hitting the ground. Her brother quickly catches her. The video was captured by their parents’ home surveillance video and uploaded to their social media accounts.

Social media users reacted to the video and called the five-year-old boy a hero for saving his sister.
