Officer Charged With George Floyd’s Death Had Multiple Convictions And Traffic Violations

One of the former MPD officers who was arrested for the death of George Floyd had several convictions and traffic violations before he was hired as a police officer.

According to the Daily Mail, Thomas Lane,37, has his fair share of criminal activity before he was hired as a police officer for the Minneapolis Police Department. Lane’s criminal records included obstructing the legal process and one charge of damaging property as revealed by a file released from his previous employer. Before he became a police officer, Lane worked 10 jobs as a service worker and completed his GED and a college degree. In 2007, he was found guilty of hosting a noisy gathering after having a party.

He also worked as a juvenile counselor and became a police cadet in 2019.

Currently, Lane is facing a 40-year prison sentence after aiding in the murder of George Floyd. He was charged with committing a felony and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter and negligence. He is currently held on a $750,000 unconditional bail.
