There’s been a lot of reports about Britney Spears and Sam Asghari after he filed for divorce from the pop star earlier this week.
One report claimed that Asghari was attempting to renegotiate his prenup — and “threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.” Of course, a wild headline like that drew in plenty of reactions, even from Oscar-winning actress, Octavia Spencer. The 53-year-old commented on a Wednesday social media upload sharing the allegation, noting that “extortion is illegal.”
Since then, Ashanti has broken his silence on the filing. His manager also released a statement to clear up some of these wild rumors. Asghari wrote: “After six years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each and I wish her the best always. He added, “Shit happens. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful.”
In a statement to news outlets, Brandon Cohen clarified, “There are many claims that Sam is challenging the prenup and threatening to exploit his ex-wife with videos,” Cohen said. “However, all these claims are false, as no negative intention has ever been directed towards her and never will be. Sam has always and will always support her.”
Spears has not addressed the separation publicly. Meanwhile, she recently posted on Instagram Wednesday, amid the news; telling fans she was “buying a horse soon”.

What’s interesting is that Spencer offered Spears advice in 2021 before the singer tied the knot the actor. As she reacted to the engagement reports at the time, she said, “Make him sign a prenup.”
Asghari clearly caught wind of the prenup suggestions and had this to say at the time: “Thank you, everyone, who is concerned about The prenup!” he wrote. “Of course, we’re getting iron-clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day.”
