44th President Barack Obama has shared his thoughts about President Donald Trump’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and he did not hold anything back!
According to TMZ, audio footage was captured when Obama was speaking with members of the Obama Alumni Association and during the 30-minute call, he emphasizes that there should have been stronger leadership to handle the COVID-19 pandemic. He says the current president has made things harder in terms of “these long-term trends in which being selfish, being tribal, being divided, and seeing others as an enemy — that has become a stronger impulse in American life.” He went further into detail and criticized President Trump’s response to handling the pandemic stating it was “an absolute chaotic disaster” due to the mindset Trump has promoted throughout his presidency.

“It would have been bad even with the best of governments. It has been an absolute chaotic disaster when that mindset — of ‘what’s in it for me’ and ‘to heck with everybody else’ — when that mindset is operationalized in our government.”

The audio was originally retrieved by Yahoo! News when Obama was discussing the Justice Department’s decision to drop charges against former White House national security advisor Michael Flynn.
“And the fact that there is no precedent that anybody can find for someone who has been charged with perjury just getting off scot-free. That’s the kind of stuff where you begin to get worried that basic — not just institutional norms — but our basic understanding of rule of law is at risk. And when you start moving in those directions, it can accelerate pretty quickly as we’ve seen in other places.”
Earlier this week, we reported about President Trump deflecting a nurse’s experience working the front lines of the pandemic. She claimed that there was a lack of personal protective equipment but Trump interrupts her and says he’s “heard different things.”
