NYPD Reviewing Video Of Officer Shoving Female Protestor To The Ground Causing A ‘Serious Seizure & Concussion’
During a peaceful protest in New York last night (May 29), an NYPD officer was caught on video shoving a female protestor to the ground, which resulted in a “serious seizure and concussion.” Since the attack, a NYPD spokesperson confirms, “We are aware of the video and the incident is under internal review.”
In the now-viral video, a white, uniformed officer tells the woman to get out of the street, slaps her phone out of her hands, and proceeds to call her a “stupid f**king b*tch,” and throws her to the ground. The woman, Dounya Zayer, denies allegations that she was violent or spit in his face to “provoke” the attack; which is clearly supported on video.

As Zayer took to social media explaining what happened, Mayor Bill de Blasio has also addressed the video. During a press conference on Saturday morning, he supported, “Any time you see a protester just arbitrarily thrown to the ground by a police officer, that does not reflect our values. It’s unacceptable … the NYPD has to do better … There will be accountability. We have to keep people’s faith that the NYPD is here to protect them.”

This is the officer. He threw my phone before throwing me. As you can see I was already backing up. All I asked was why. pic.twitter.com/8mct5GrztV

Update: Got her permission with a fuck yeah. The cop pushed her so hard at Barclays & she flung back. She is tiny. Now she’s in the ER after a serious seizure. I’m waiting for updates but have to wait outside because of COVID-19. Please keep my protest sister in your thoughts. pic.twitter.com/MqV0QJ0D8h

Stop making excuses for the police. They are supposed to be protecting us. Not hurting us. pic.twitter.com/SoYtWMxIMh
