NYPD Officer Arrested After Being Exposed As An “Illegal Agent” For China

An NYPD officer was arrested after they were allegedly acting as an agent for China. The FBI and NYPD Investigators reported he was in contact with his handlers since 2014.

According to ABC 7, Baimadajie Angwang,33, worked as a community affairs officer in the 111 precinct in Queens and a US Army Reservist at Fort Dix. Investigators reported Angwang performed duties for Chinese government officials at the consulate in New York and provided reports surrounding the activities of ethnic Tibetans along with giving consulate officials access to senior NYPD officials. Additionally, he was in frequent contact with an unidentified consular official and referred to him as “Boss”

The criminal complaint states Angwang is a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in China and referred to himself as an “asset” of the People’s Republic of China.

He also had the official attend NYPD events and offered to provide information about the internal operations within the police precinct.

“Angwang also discussed the utility of developing sources for the PRC government in the local Tibetan community and suggested that the primary qualification for a source as follows: ‘If you’re willing to recognize the motherland, the motherland is willing to assist you with its resources,'”

NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea released a statement on the investigation and said he “violated every oath he took in this country:

“As alleged in this federal complaint, Baimadajie Angwang violated every oath he took in this country. One to the United States, another to the U.S. Army, and a third to this Police Department. From the earliest stages of this investigation, the NYPD’s Intelligence and Internal Affairs bureaus worked closely with the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division to make sure this individual would be brought to justice.”
