NYPD Cops Encouraged To ‘Strike’ July 4 In Response To Protests

Apparently, the NYPD is ready to strike this coming July 4 to show the city what it feels like without the law.

Per the NY Post, fliers are allegedly circulating amongst the NYPD, encouraging officers to call in sick following backlash against officers for police killings of unarmed black men across the U.S. As we reported, the world is outraged following the murder of Geroge Floyd and countless other black lives.

Apparently, one flier tells the cops to begin the strike at 3 pm. The message is going around via text.

“NYPD cops will strike on July 4th to let the city have their independence without cops,” the message reads.

“Cops that say we can’t strike because of the Taylor Law,” the message reads, referring to a law which states that public servants cannot strike or face jail time, “The people and this city doesn’t (sic) honor us why honor them.”

In another message, officers have received texts that read #Bluflu and promote cops to call in sick on Independence day.

“Police officers like you and me took an oath to protect strangers regardless of race, class or gender,” the message reads. “Today we are vilified and must stand as one.”

“If you are held because of the #Bluflu, request a bus and go sick from command.”
