A Staten Island nurse was arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing a dying coronavirus patient’s credit card to buy groceries and gas.

NBC News reports Danielle Conti,43, who worked at Staten Island University Hospital, used Anthony Catapano’s credit card while he was under her care. The 70-year-old died due to COVID-19 complications on April 12 after being admitted to the hospital for a week. His daughter Tara confirmed Conti’s criminal activities in a Facebook post and said the hospital didn’t inform her of her father’s passing.

“When I went to pick them up several items were missing including his cell phone, eyeglasses, 2 cell phone chargers, money, and a buzzer. The hospital “investigated” unsuccessfully and the case was closed and I still don’t have my dad’s things. Today I get his Amex bill in the mail and there are 2 charges for gas and groceries while he was in the hospital and fighting for his life. Due to the pandemic, no visitors are allowed, therefore that means a hospital employee stole my father’s credit card, used it, and then returned it to his wallet. What type of disgusting piece of shit does something like this??? They should be ashamed of themselves. How would they feel if this was their parent.”

Tara filed a police report after debating whether she should file on behalf of her father since he passed away.

The hospital said in a statement that Conti has been temporarily suspended and will be terminated from her position. She is facing charges of grand larceny, petit larceny and criminal possession of the stolen property.

“We are working closely with the law enforcement authorities and the hospital is conducting its own investigation,”
