NYC Mayor Eric Adams Responds To Backlash: “I Was A Cook. I Was A Dishwasher. If Nobody Came To My Restaurant, I Wouldn’t Have Been Able To Survive”

NYC Mayor Eric Adams was in hot water yesterday when he held a press conference and referred to certain job titles as “low skill workers”.

Twitter blasted Adams after he stated, “If my businesses are sharing with their employees you are apart of the eco system of this city. My low skill workers, my cooks, my dishwashers, my messengers, my shoeshine people those who work in dunking donuts they don’t have the academic skills to sit in a corner office , they need this we are in this together.”

After twitter users responded to the viral clip Adams, put out a tweet on Wednesday saying, “I was a cook. I was a dishwasher. If nobody came to my restaurant when I was in college, I wouldn’t have been able to survive. When you talk about closing down our city, you’re talking about putting low-wage workers out of a job. I’m not letting that happen.”

After trying to clear the air a few twitter users still gave the mayor a hard time. One user commented on his tweet saying, “If you were a cook/dishwasher then it wasn’t your restaurant it was your employers. Stop pretending like there is solidarity between capital owners and the working class just say you want workers to sacrifice their health for your economy.”
