A viral TikTok video is facing backlash after four nurses at a hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico recorded themselves dancing with a body bag labeled “COVID-19.”

The video uploaded by TikTok user joedmarielaboydes, shows the four nurses dancing while carrying the body bag on their shoulders but there was no clarity if the body was real. Some social media users have shown support for the video stating that the “dead” body represented the nurses ” defeating” the coronavirus and working the front lines. The clip is also based on the Ghanaians pallbearers’ meme that has been used on social media whenever people disregard social distancing rules or stay-at-home orders.

However, most of the criticism stem from the fact that people are dying from the coronavirus around the world including the undisclosed hospital from the video. Twitter user @fish_nicola stated it’s okay to have downtime with coworkers but “not choreographing juvenile dances when people are dying in the same building. It’s tasteless,”

Another user by the name of Lion Cub said they agreed with the outrage since they have experience working in emergency rooms:

‘I agree with you 1000%. I’ve worked in ERs, inner city hospitals, and on crises teams. I know the value of gallows humor as self-preservation…but they shouldn’t have put it out there on social media,’

This is not the first time medical workers have faced backlash on TikTok for making fun of patients or serious medical issues. None of the nurses or the hospital has been identified.
