Former NBA G League player Chance Comanche has reportedly confessed to his involvement in the gruesome murder of missing Nevada woman, Marayna Rodgers. The details of the crime, as revealed by Las Vegas police records, paint a chilling picture of a planned murder.

Chance Comanche, a 27-year-old former pro basketball player who had previously played for the Stockton Kings, the NBA G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings, found himself entangled in a web of deceit and violence. Marayna Rodgers, a 23-year-old from Lakewood, Washington, had traveled to Las Vegas with the intention of engaging in prostitution. It was during this time that she crossed paths with Comanche and his ex-girlfriend, Sakari Harnden.

Harnden sought Comanche’s help after a dispute arose between her and Rodgers over a Rolex watch. Harnden and Rodgers both worked as prostitutes in the Vegas area. During the girls’ argument, threats were made, and tensions escalated. Failing to hire a hitman for $3,000, Comanche and Harnden began discussing various methods to carry out the murder. These chilling discussions included poisoning, strangulation, and the use of a gun. “I can snap her neck or just strangle the b*tch,” Comanche allegedly wrote in a group message among Harnden and a third man, who had contact with someone who could get Rodgers clipped. “If you get a nice little thick piece of rope or sum sturdy I can do it from the backseat. Like how the killers do it in the movies.”

Comanche and Harnden eventually lured Rodgers to a pre-determined location under the guise of a double date. On December 6, after Comanche had checked into a hotel with his team, he left to meet Harnden and Rodgers. The trio drove to get alcohol and then to a cul-de-sac near the former house of Comanche’s friend, where they had originally planned to commit the murder.

At some point in the night, Harnden had explained to Rodgers that Comanche was actually the “trick” and was “going to pay them for their services. “(Rodgers) agreed and began removing her clothes. (Harnden) removed her clothing and climbed over the center console and straddled (Rodgers’) lap,” the police records read. Rodgers willingly had her wrists tied together before the unthinkable happened.

It was during this encounter that Comanche allegedly used an HDMI cord to choke Rodgers for approximately 10 seconds. When he heard his victim struggling to breathe, Comanche stopped, but Harnden continued. The tragic event ended with Rodgers losing her life.

Comanche and Harnden, realizing the gravity of their actions, checked Rodgers’ pulse and confirmed her death when they noticed fluid coming out of her mouth.

The deadly duo then pulled over to the side of a road in Henderson, Nevada, and allegedly dumped Rodgers’ body in a ditch before covering the body with rocks. It was said that Comanche confessed to police that he used a towel to pick up the rocks to avoid getting his DNA on them.

Eventually, Harnden was arrested on Dec. 13, and charged with felony first-degree kidnapping. He was also hit with felony theft, for allegedly stealing a Rolex that was valued between $5,000 and $25,000, according to court record

Sadly, detectives eventually found Rodgers’ body in the ditch on Dec. 15, after Comanche pointed to the location on a map during his interview.

Earlier this week, a criminal complaint was filed in Las Vegas court charging both Comanche and Harnden with open murder and conspiracy to commit murder, which are both felonies.

The shocking confession of former NBA G League player Chance Comanche in the gruesome murder of Marayna Rodgers has sent shockwaves through the community.
