A High Point, North Carolina pastor was recently arrested after being accused of trying to push his wife’s co-worker’s head into a McDonald’s deep fryer for allegedly disrespecting her.
According to officials with the High Point Police Department, on December 28, a woman was training to be a manager at a McDonald’s on South Main Street. During the training, the woman’s employees were said to be “disrespecting” her.
Subsequently, the woman called her husband, who happened to be 57-year-old Dwayne Waden Sr., and told him about the situation in hopes of getting some assistance in dealing with things. However, witnesses at the scene told police that when Waden arrived at the McDonald’s location, he made his way behind the counter and targeted the employee.
Police said that Waden allegedly grabbed the victim’s neck with both hands and pushed their head toward one of the deep fryers in the McDonald’s kitchen. Police also said that Waden allegedly punched the victim several times in the face, and did not stop striking him until multiple employees intervened and were able to successfully pull him off of the victim.
In their report, police claimed the victim suffered a “large contusion” to the forehead and right eye, and also wore scratches on his neck. Police said emergency response cemrews rushed to the scene, however, the victim had his family take him to a nearby hospital instead.
In addition to eyewitness reports, police said they were also able to see footage from a surveillance video of the altercation. Elsewhere, representatives with this North Carolina McDonald’s local franchise confirmed to CBS News that the wife, who was the manager in training, was no longer employed with the organization. They added, “The safety and security of our employees and customers is our top priority.”
It’s reported that the North Carolina pastor serves the congregation at Elevated Life International Ministries, and is also a semi-truck driver. According to the police report, Waden was arrested and charged for assault and battery and was released on a $1,000 bond. He is due back in court on January 22.
