Welp things may seem to be going downhill for Ja Morant following his second gun-flashing incident but the one thing that’s going up is his shoe sales!
Nike has decided to release the new limited edition Ja Morant shoe on their ‘SNKRS’ app. This comes just days after they pulled it from their website amid his latest gun controversy. According to reports, the shoes that were going for $110, quickly sold out in all sizes after being released at 10:00 am ET. In addition to his shoes, Nike also sells Morant’s jersey as the company is the official uniform provider of the NBA.
The good news of Mornat’s sneaker rollout comes a day after cops did a welfare check on the Memphis Grizzlies basketball star after he shared a few cryptic messages to his Instagram Story.

As we reported, Morant dropped several family photos and included the word “Bye“ in his final post. This made many fans extremely concerned with some thinking the worst. Despite the online scare, cops later confirmed that he was “fine” and the athlete told law enforcement that he was just talking about taking a break from social media.
More On Ja Morant’s Second Gun-Flashing Incident
During an Instagram Live session on Morant’s friend Davonte Pack’s account, the All-Star was seen flashing a handgun while driving and singing along to a rap song. The video has since been deleted. The Grizzlies recently announced Morant’s suspension which is pending a league review. This latest incident came two months after the NBA suspended Morant over a similar incident.
In March, he was suspended for eight games without pay after he was filmed holding up a gun while at a strip club. At the time of the first suspension, Morant told ESPN in an interview that he realizes “what I have to lose” and said he would try to be “more responsible, more smarter and staying away from all the bad decisions.” Although Morant apologized to his fans and clearly didn’t mean it, he did so again following his latest actions which have gotten him in trouble for a second time.
He said, “I know I’ve disappointed a lot of people who have supported me. This is a journey and I recognize there is more work to do. My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my actions. I’m committed to continuing to work on myself.”
Morant future has been looking uncertain due to his reckless online behavior. As many pointed out, the 23-year-old, secured a fives -year, $194 million max contract which is set to begin this coming season. Per ESPN, he has endorsement deals with Nike and Powerade, though the sports drink company pulled an ad featuring Morant almost immediately after the March video emerged. The Powerade spokesperson told ESPN’s Michele Steele, “At this time we do not have any Ja-related content running.”
If given another shot at making things right, we’re hoping Morant will learn from his mistakes this time around.
