Niecy Nash has revealed she’s been seeing a therapist with her partner, Jessica Betts, saying that the move has tremendously helped them to “communicate better.”
Niecy and Jessica secretly tied the knot back in August 2020, much to the surprise of fans, who had no idea the actress had been in a relationship with her longtime friend. Since their wedding, the 52-year-old has spoken highly about her romance with Jessica, having credited regular therapy sessions for helping them “unpack things.”
“The biggest gift we’ve given to each other is therapy,” Niecy told OK! Magazine in a recent interview. “We go separate and we go together — just to help us unpack things, manage things, communicate better, and there’s nothing wrong with getting help.”

The Claws star wants to end the stigma around therapeutic support. While her relationship with Jessica was already going great, speaking to a professional has only taken their marriage from strength to strength.

Niecy, who is gearing up to host the reboot of Don’t Forget The Lyrics on FOX next month, went on to tell the publication that she genuinely believes in having found the love of her life, adding that their pairing was simply meant to be.
What’s more, when she and Jessica initially started as friends, no initial signs correlated to the idea that they would make the perfect couple, even though Niecy realized she shared a lot in common with her then-pal.

In her chat with the news outlet, she further noted that while she’s never dated someone whom she was friends with at first, Niecy appeared to have felt strongly about her BFF also being her lover.
“The best part is I never been in a relationship with anyone who I was friends with first. I show up at the good parts. I mainly approach my relationships, like, ‘No, I don’t need you to be my friend, I need you to be my lover, I have got friends.'”
“She [Jessica] is the most beautiful soul I have ever met in my life. You could have never told me that I would have been in a same-sex marriage. I already had two marriages under my belt, and I would have done it the same way again.”

Back in May 2021, Niecy stunned fans when she quipped she wanted to “make love” all around the world — not excluding fun times on the plane — with her partner once traveling restrictions had been eased amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
While speaking to Page Six, the mother-of-three said she was already a member of the mile high club, so getting freaky in an airplane wasn’t going to be anything new for her. “I am the president,” she jested. “I can send you an application if you’d like to join.”
“I wanna go everywhere. I wanna go to Italy, I wanna go to Dubai, I wanna go to the Maldives, Turks and Caicos … I just wanna run around naked. Why not?”
