Nick Cannon Reportedly Refused To Endorse Sherri Shepherd’s Upcoming Talk Show Out Of Loyalty To Wendy Williams

Nick Cannon is choosing loyalty over business when it comes to his friendship with Wendy Williams, with a new report claiming the “Wild N Out” star turned down a request to endorse Sherri Shepherd’s upcoming talk show, “Sherri.” According to Page Six, Nick had been approached by Debmar-Mercury, the production company behind Wendy, Sherri and Nick’s now-defunct show, to throw his support behind their latest project.

“Nick Cannon would not endorse her out of allegiance to Wendy,” the source said, further claiming that Nick had also taken issue with how the cancelation of his show was handled, which appeared to have left some animosity. “He wasn’t cool with how they handled him and how they abruptly canceled his show and hustled everyone out of there and took their computers and s–t.”

Nick’s self-titled chat show was canceled after just six months, though he considered the TV gig to have been a “blessing and dream come true” despite its short-lived run. Furthermore, an insider expressed that the San Diego native felt “indebted” to Wendy, who was somewhat responsible for him landing the opportunity in the first place following multiple guest appearances he made on her show prior.

It appeared as if Nick’s time on daytime television didn’t do so well when it came to viewership numbers, which were far lower than what executives were said to have aimed for when the show first made its debut in late 2021

“[Debmar-Mercury] was definitely relying on Wendy’s numbers to propel Nick’s numbers, and they placed a bet with Fox once [the network] got rid of ‘The Real,’” the source added. “They assured Fox they would get their numbers, and they failed miserably.”

With Sherri set to replace Wendy’s time slot with her upcoming talk show, “Sherri,” it will be interesting to see how well the show fares now that Ellen Degeneres has also bowed out of her own chat show. Clearly, there’s a spot available for another woman to take over, but that goes without saying that Sherri will also face some competition from Jennifer Hudson, who is also fronting her daytime TV program, “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” this fall.

Meanwhile, in a chat with the New York Post this week, Wendy revealed that she wasn’t happy about the finale of her show, saying, “There was nothing I liked about the [the final episode of] ‘Wendy Williams Show. “[Debmar-Mercury] didn’t ask me [to appear during the finale], so I didn’t. I sat in my apartment and I watched it. And [I was] like, ‘Eek!’”
