Shilo Sanders Signs With Tampa Bay Buccaneers As Undrafted Free Agent

On Sunday (August 24), ESPN reported that Shilo Sanders’ agents told Senior NFL Insider and sports journalist Adam Schefter that the Bucs waived their rookie safety. As we previously shared, Shilo Sanders, son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, signed with the Bucs back in April as an undrafted free agent.

At the time, Shilo Sanders, 25, celebrated the news with his father, brother Shedeur Sanders, 23, and more while live-streaming. During the Twitch live stream on Day 3 of the NFL Draft, we also learned that Sanders had another announcement.

He shared that he had a new agent, however, he hadn’t yet mentioned their name. It was soon revealed as powerhouse sports agent Drew Rosenhaus. Rosenhaus, who owns Rosenhaus Sports Representation (RSR), has worked with a slew of NFL players, including Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill.

According to ProFootballNetwork, after seeing all of the drama that his brother Shedeur Sanders went through with the 2025 NFL Draft, Shilo Sanders opted to drop his father, aka “Coach Prime,” as his agent and sign with powerhouse Drew Rosenhaus before the draft ended. Shilo’s brother Shedeur was pushed to the fifth round before being drafted by the Cleveland Browns as an overall 144th pick.

Tampa Baby Buccaneers Waive Rookie Shilo Sanders Day After Ejecting Him From Game Over Punching Incident

Since April’s drafting drama, ESPN now reports that Shilo Sanders has been cut. His agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey told them that the rookie has been waived by the Bucs. However, they still hope that he gets claimed on waivers by another team. Currently, NFL teams are in the process of trimming their rosters to 53 players by Tuesday’s deadline (August 26).

As mentioned, Sanders’ Bucs cut arrives less than 24 hours after his ejection from Tampa Bay’s third preseason game. The Buccaneers played against the Buffalo Bills and lost 23-19. Sanders was caught punching Bills tight end Zach Davidson, who was blocking him. After being heavily pushed and shoved in the second quarter, Sanders fought back, ultimately throwing a punch to defend himself.

Bucs linebacker John Bullock attempted to calm down Sanders. Meanwhile, Coach Todd Bowles just stared at him as he returned to the sideline. Sanders was also flagged for a pass interference call in the first quarter of the game. Speaking on the punching matter, Bowles said, “You can’t throw punches in this league — that’s inexcusable. They’re going to get you every time. You’ve got to grow from that.”
