NFL Reportedly Looking To Have Fans Sign COVID-19 Liability Waivers To Attend Games

So to shield the league from any lawsuits and legal responsibilities if a fan were to contract coronavirus at an event, the NFL may have fans sign COVID-19 liability waivers in order to attend games this season, which begins in September, per ‘The Athletic.’

As stadiums begin to reopen amid the coronavirus pandemic, the publication reports that waiver proposals are likely to be sent to clubs as early as the middle of next week. A source tells them, “It is probably something you do electronically, just trying to figure out the operational challenges associated with waivers. Just have to work out how best to do that.”

Additionally, the waiver would likely look like the one President Donald Trump had his supporters sign ahead of attending his June rally in Tulsa. The publication also details that fans would still be required to wear a mask at games and practice social distancing, as stadiums would be forced to go cashless. Each team would also be allowed to set their own capacity regulations. Without these creative measures to allow fans in stands, the league could lose close to $3 billion in revenue.
