Neyo Recalls Why He Didn’t Sign Lucky Daye: “I Let Him In My House And This Nigga Is Asleep With A Chick In My Bed!”
Imagine you allow someone to stay in your house while you’re away and then come home to find your guest snuggled up in your bed with another guest! Singer Neyo is recalling the time that happened to him and why he didn’t move forward with signing an artist who crossed those lines.
While appearing on the @faqpodcast, NeYo talks about how he was going to sign artist Lucky Daye who worked with him on his song “She Got Her Own” featuring Jamie Foxx and Fabolous.
Neyo explained that Daye actually wrote a part of the song. He told the hosts that the talented singer was supposed to be someone he was going to sign as an artist under his name but…
“I was really digging his voice and his energy… we did some songs together. Matter of fact one of them you know,” NeYo told to the hosts. “The remix to Miss Independent with me and Jamie Foxx and Fab. Jamie Fox’s verse, Lucky Daye wrote that verse. He wrote the verse because it was supposed to be him. We was going to do the joint together and I was trying to sign him, he was going to be my artist. But some things happened.”
Neyo went on to recall, “So at the time I was going out of town, we was going on a short little run or whatever and I let Mr. Daye stay at my house. At this point I got a beacutiful house and I’m like ‘bruh you got full range of the crib; wherever you want to go, whatever you want to do, just don’t go in my room. Master bedroom is off limits.’” Neyo said before adding that he gave Daye “anywhere else in the house to wild out” and made it clear to him to not go in his room.”
Of course, Daye didn’t listen according to Neyo. “I come back one morning; open the door, he’s nowhere. Go upstairs to my room. Sure enough this Nigga is asleep with a chick in my bed.”
Now, despite that, Lucky Daye still found a way to make it big in the entertainment world. He had been nominated for several Grammys over the course of his career and eventually took one home this year for Best Progressive R&B Album for his project Table For Two at the 64th Grammy Awards.
Daye has not yet reacted to Neyo’s interview but until then let us know your thoughts on this in the comment box below!
