New York Reports More COVID-19 Cases Than Any Country, Mass Graves Seen On Hart Island

On Thursday (April 9), New York reported another 10,000 coronavirus (COVID-19) infections, and now they have the most in any country. Subsequently, mass graves are being dug, with one seen on Hart Island.

As of Thursday, the state reported a confirmed total of 159,937 cases, with 7,067 deaths. The total cases places the state ahead of Spain, with 1530,000 cases, and Italy, with 143,000 cases.

Due to the mass deaths around the state, mass trenches are being created, with one seen via drone on Hart Island, which has been used for more than 150 years by officials as burial sites for those without kin or families to afford funerals. The video footage shows workers in hazmat suits burying plank wood coffins back-to-back and stacked on top of each other.

It’s noted that usually the task of burying the multiple bodies has previously been appointed to inmates from Rikers Island prison, but due to the large scale, the city’s hired contract laborers for extra help.
