New York Reports First Decline in Daily COVID-19 Deaths
New York, the state that has been hit the hardest by the coronavirus has reported a total of 594 new deaths this Sunday. While it’s still a pretty big number, it’s fewer than the 630 it reported on Saturday, Governor Andrew Cuomo said during his daily news briefing.

Now, Cuomo said it was too early to say if the outbreak had reached a peak in New York: “You could argue that you are seeing a plateauing,” he said to reporters. “Next week they will tell you whether we are on a plateau or is it just a blip,” he said, referring to statisticians, Bloomberg quotes. The state has had 4,159 fatalities so far. Aside from this, President Donald Trump and other leaders warned of rising death tolls in the upcoming week.
Meanwhile, the rate of coronavirus deaths in Spain has also slowed for a third straight day. The European nation reported 674 deaths compared to 809 a day earlier, as the country began its fourth week under a near-total lockdown.
Despite the more hopeful statistics, Cuomo continued to urge New Yorkers to stay home and practice social distancing. Not only to save the elderly and those with underlying health issues but also to protect themselves.
