On Wednesday (November 6), Donald Trump was officially named the winner of the 2024 presidential election over Vice President Kamala Harris. Later that evening, New York Governor Kathy Hochul and New York Attorney General Letitia James — whose office has been investigating Donald Trump since 2019 for alleged business fraud — held a press conference, at which time, James vowed to “fight back” against Trump after he surprisingly won the 2024 election.

James has already won a $454 million civil fraud judgment against Trump after accusing him of inflating his net worth by billions of dollars to get better loan and insurance terms.

During the press hearing, NY Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that she formed an “Empire State Freedom Initiative” to prepare to fight “policy and regulatory threats” from the incoming Trump administration. The Democratic governor said she is prepared to work with Trump, but warned, “You try to harm New Yorkers or roll back their rights, I will fight you every step of the way.”

She also spoke about her potential fights with Trump over abortion, labor, LGBTQ+ rights, environmental policy, and immigration. Meanwhile, NY AG Letitia James said her office has been “preparing” for a potential second Trump administration and is ready to “fight back.”

In her statement, James said, “I am ready to do everything in my power to ensure our state and nation do not go backward. Together with Governor Hochul, our partners in the state and local government, and my colleague attorneys general from throughout the nation, we will work each and every day to defend Americans, no matter what this new administration throws at us. We are ready to fight back again.”

On Thursday (November 7), Mike Davis, Donald Trump’s rumored potential Attorney General appointee, fired back at NY AG Letitia James.

During an appearance on ‘The Benny Show’ podcast, Davis said the new Trump administration has no patience for NY AG James if she plans to weaponize the legal system against the 47th president. He said, “Let me just say this to ‘Big Tish’ James, the New York attorney general: I dare you. I dare you to try to continue your lawfare against President Trump in his second term.”

Davis continued, “Listen here, sweetheart. We’re not messing around this time and we will put your fat a** in prison for conspiracy against rights. I promise you that. Davis — whose name has been floating around as Trump’s potential pick for Attorney General or White House counsel for 47 — urged NY AG James to “think long and hard” before potentially violating Trump’s “constitutional rights or any other Americans’ constitutional rights,” because, “It’s not going to happen again.”
