Deputies from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call around 2 a.m. about several vehicles that had been broken into and arrested the boys, ages 12 and 14. According to MSN, the brothers were listed as one of four suspects wanted in connection with the Creeks of River Ridge Apartments burglaries.
One of the suspects attempted to carjack a female victim before crashing the vehicle and fleeing on foot. A deputy shot another suspect after he pointed a gun at officers. According to Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto, the suspects broke into 62 vehicles after predicting 47 car break-ins. After the boys were arrested, their mother, Tiffany Bloomfield, was acting combative while picking them up at the station.

Lopinto further said Bloomfield didn’t comment on her sons’ cases but she was also booked with outstanding warrants.
“We were going to let her go and then she started acting a fool. She arrived at our detective bureau for her two sons. Refused to allow them to have any comment, which is certainly within her right to be able to do so, continued to argue with our deputies, refused to leave.”
Meanwhile, the brothers were charged with 47 counts of car burglary. However, investigators said those numbers are changing.
New Orleans is facing a crisis in the rising number of carjackings and burglaries within the city.
The city is facing a current rise in carjacking crimes as the suspects involved in the crimes are teenagers. On Twitter, citizens who live in the city discussed the issue and said it is becoming a problem within the community as it seems it is not slowing down anytime soon. One user wrote, “Car jacking been at an all time high here in New Orleans. Yoh barely can learn your car without seeing lines of shattered glass sometimes.” There was another situation where a man was almost carjacked and jumped on the moving to prevent the crime.
