New Jersey Homeland Security officials have just increased the threat level of white supremacists to the highest ranking.

The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security raised the threat level from moderate to high for 2020, higher than the threat of ISIS.

The report notes that the “increased threat posed by white supremacist extremists from moderate to high in 2020, joining homegrown violent extremists as the most persistent hostile actors in New Jersey.”

The new ranking comes after multiple horrific attacks in 2019, including the El Paso Walmart attack that left 22 people dead and many injured.

“The ever-changing threat landscape in New Jersey and around the country requires us to adjust our strategies to anticipate new threats while remaining ready to combat those already existing,” said Jared Maples, director of the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security.

The statement noted that ISIS was a low threat to the U.S and focused more on global terror.

“ISIS continues to focus on establishing its worldwide presence, but the group has not conducted an attack in the United States,” the report added.
