New Footage Shows Dresjon Reed Did Not Fire At Officers Before Being Killed
Newly released surveillance footage shows the moments before Dreasjon “Sean” Reed was shot and killed by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
The video was obtained from ACE Lock & Key in the 6100 block of North Michigan Road. Reed can be seen exiting the grey Toyota with a T shirt and his two cell phones, one of which recorded the entire incident.
He looks back and then runs out of camera view. Shortly after, an IMPD officer can be seen running after Reed.

The video does not show the fatal shooting.
Fatima Johnson and Swaray Conteh, lawyers representing Reed’s family, say the family hopes the release of the footage refuted claims by IMPD that Reed had a gun and fired at officers.
“We’ve been very diligent about going frame by frame through every video,” Johnson said. “Where that video ends, eyewitness testimony picks up. There was no time for him to change what he had in his hand, there was no time for him to get a weapon.
It’s clear to us what happened.”
IMPD claims that Reed fired a gun at the officers.
In a statement given to the IndyStar, IMPD rep Aliya Wishner said that the department will not comment on the ongoing investigation.
