New CDC Guidelines Say Fully Vaccinated Americans Do NOT Need To Wear Masks Outside

This Tuesday, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its guidelines for Americans who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

Americans who are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus no longer need to wear masks outdoors if they’re walking, running, hiking, or biking alone, with members of their household, or if they attend small outdoor gatherings, federal health officials announced today. However, the CDC still recommends wearing a mask on for any crowded outdoor events like concerts, parades, and sporting events.

As ABC7 notes, people are considered fully vaccinated by the CDC two weeks after the second dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna vaccines or two weeks after the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. President Joe Biden is expected to give remarks on the state of the pandemic later this Tuesday.

Biden kicked off his presidency by asking Americans to wear masks for 100 days. He then signed an executive order requiring their use on federal property, requiring masks and physical distancing in federal buildings, on federal lands, and by government contractors, and urges states and local governments to do the same.
