Ne-Yo is reportedly requesting to have his ex Sade Bagnerise gagged from speaking on their ongoing custody battle, weeks after he was declared the legal father of his two youngest sons with her.

In May 2023, we previously shared that Ne-Yo requested DNA testing, trying to establish paternity over two children mothered by Sade Bagnerise, thus allowing them to be eligible for inheritance in the future. In 2021, Bagnerise gave birth to Braiden, and then in February 2022, she pushed out another baby boy, named Brixton.

Months after Brixton’s birth, Ne-Yo was kicked to the curb by his wife Crystal Renay. In July, she took to social media and said she was walking away from her marriage, claiming Ne-Yo’s been cheating with sex workers and having unprotected sex with women.

A couple of days following Renay’s announcement on social media, she officially filed for divorce from Ne-Yo, claiming he allegedly had a child with another woman during their marriage; which we later learned was mothered by Bagnerise.

A month later, Ne-Yo asked a judge for a gag order, claiming her cheating allegations had reportedly cost him $400,000 in deals. In February 2023, Ne-Yo and his ex-wife officially finalized their divorce. It was reported that they would have joint custody of their 3 children and that he would give her $12,000 a month in child support, plus $5,000 in monthly alimony over the next 3 years.

Elsewhere, Ne-Yo also shares two children (his eldest of the bunch) with his ex-fiancée Monyetta Shaw.

Then in May, as mentioned above, Ne-Yo filed a court order to obtain legal parental rights over his two youngest children, whom he shares with Sade Bagnerise. He requested joint legal and physical custody of both kids and wanted to make it official that he’s their father.

In June, Bagnerise reportedly responded to Ne-Yo’s filing and requested “primary custody” of the children, plus “immediate monthly child support” (plus medical, educational, extracurricular, etc. expenses) from their petitioning father.

The duo later settled on “joint legal custody,” with Bagnerise requesting Ne-Yo spend “every other weekend” with the children, and alternate on the holidays.

In October, Ne-Yo, born Shaffer Chimere Smith, was officially declared the “natural and biological” father of his two boys with Bagnerise. A judge also declared that children’s last names would be updated from their mother’s surname to their father’s.

Days after Ne-Yo was declared the legal father of his two children with Bagnerise, it’s reported that before the declaration, he requested a gag order from the judge to keep Bagnerise from speaking on their custody battle. RadarOnline reports that Ne-Yo allegedly told the court that he’s an “international recording artist” and requested for certain filings to be sealed in his paternity lawsuit.

The site claims the singer allegedly argued that it would be in the best interest of his children to keep the information about his finances, the locations of his homes, and the amount of child support being paid from heading to public records.

He allegedly asked that Bagnerise be prohibited from “discussing the custody battle proceedings and any aspect of the proceedings in the media to include but not limited to social media, print media, internet, radio, and or television media in further directives held under the Domestic Relations Standing Order.”

The alleged gag order also arrived a few weeks after the public was made aware of Bagnerise’s March arrest for felony cruelty to children. Her charges included cruelty to children in the first degree, and cruelty to children in the third degree, plus battery.

Bagnerise claims she tried to help her son fight off his bullies at a bus stop. In the court documents, the mother of the alleged victim claimed Bagnerise “kicked and placed [her] son in a chokehold before spraying him in the face with pepper spray.” Bagnerise has denied all allegations of wrongdoing, instead insisting that her son was the victim of bullying and now his bullies are flipping the narrative.
