Ne-Yo and ex-wife Crystal Renay were recently spotted taking pictures together at an event this past week and now fans think the two are possibly trying to reconcile their relationship following an affair that ultimately ended their marriage.
A video that has been making its rounds online shows the singer and Crystal posing for pictures at the opening of their restaurant chain’s newest location. NeYo is seen getting real close to Crystal as the cameras go off. However, Crystal looked like she wanted the photogs to hurry up and snap the pics so she could get up out of there and enjoy the party.
Sources close to the ex-couple tell TMZ that despite how things may have looked in that clip, they are absolutely not back together. It was noted that they are both dating and seeing other people all while co-parenting their three children.
So Where Did Things Go Wrong?
In an emotional statement, Crystal revealed that Ne-Yo allegedly had an affair. She said, “8 years of life and deception. 8 years of unknowingly sharing my life and husband with numerous women who sell their bodies to him unprotected … every last one of them,” the model wrote in a Saturday, July 30, Instagram post. “To say I’m heartbroken and disgusted is [an] understatement. To ask me to stay and accept it is absolutely insane. The mentality of a narcissist.”
She added in her post: “I will no longer lie to the public or pretend that this is something it isn’t. I choose me, I choose my happiness and health and my respect. I gained 3 beautiful children out of this but nothing else but wasted years and heartache.” She ended her message by saying, “I am not a victim. I’m choosing to stand tall with my head held high. If someone can’t love you the way you deserve then it’s up to you to love yourself. With no hate in my heart, I wish him nothing but the best.”
Around that time, Ne-Yo addressed Crystal’s claims in a Twitter statement on Sunday, July 31.
“For the sake of our children, my family and I will work through our challenges behind closed doors,” Ne-Yo tweeted. “Personal matters are not meant to be addressed and dissected in public forums. I simply ask that you please respect me and my family’s privacy at this time.”
Ne-Yo who has two children with ex-fiancé Monyetta Shaw and three with estranged wife Crystal, later admitted he had a baby with another woman, a social media influencer named Sade, while he was still married.

Ne-Yo and Crystal tied the knot in February 2016. While they had a great few years together, things started to go downhill for the two and even temporarily split. They were eventually able to reconcile and remarried two years after filing for divorce.
However, in August of 2022, Crystal went through with ending her marriage permanently… just four months after they renewed their vows in a romantic red-themed ceremony in Las Vegas.
The two finalized everything earlier this year. According to TMZ, Ne-Yo had to pay Crystal a $1.6 million lump sum to balance out their real estate holdings.
Court documents outlining the agreement stated that Ne-Yo agreed to pay Renay $20,000 for moving expenses and $150,000 so that she can buy a new car. She was able to keep one of their four homes in Georgia while receiving $12,000 a month in child support for their three children, of whom they will share custody, the publication reported at the time.
Since then, they’ve both moved on and have maintained a healthy co-parenting relationship.
