NBA YoungBoy found himself in the middle of a tense Utah traffic stop, but this time, he walked away untouched.

The Baton Rouge rapper, born Kentrell Gaulden, was riding as a passenger when Utah Highway Patrol pulled over Al vehicle on Interstate 15 over suspected drug activity. Now, this could’ve gone left fast, but they didn’t. Youngboy wasn’t arrested, cited, or charged.

According to UHP Sgt. Mike Alexander, the trooper had probable cause to search the vehicle. During that search, drugs were found, but not on YoungBoy. Instead, a male driver and a female passenger stepped up and claimed ownership.

“In consultation with the Utah County Attorney’s Office, it was decided that charges would be screened against those two individuals for the possession of those illicit drugs,” Alexander said.

In other words: not YoungBoy.

Investigators also discovered cash inside the car, which raised eyebrows, but Alexander made it clear there was no proven link between the money and the drugs. No extra sauce added.
Authorities are keeping the names of the driver and the other passenger under wraps for now.

YoungBoy, 26, has been living in Utah and already has a history with the state’s legal system. Last year, he dealt with prescription drug fraud accusations and paid a $25,000 fine. He’s also previously served time for possession of a firearm as a felon—so his presence alone had folks wondering if this stop could turn into something bigger.

But according to Alexander, that’s not the case.

When asked whether Gaulden’s past could come back to haunt him here, Alexander said he wasn’t aware of any charges being considered against the rapper at this time.
