Naya Rivera Fans Upset After She’s Left Out of Grammys 2021 In Memoriam Tribute

On Sunday during the 2021 Grammy Awards, the program honored several entertainers who passed away within the past year. However, singer and “Glee” alum Naya Rivera was not included in the on-air tribute.

It didn’t take long for fans to notice she was left out. After noticing her absence from the segment, many upset fans took to social media to share their outrage. One tweeted, “The @RecordingAcad decided to not include Naya Rivera in the on-air “In memoriam” part of the show. I’m disappointed and utterly heartbroken. Naya gave SO much to the music world. She deserves a mention AT LEAST. Put some respect on her name. #grammys”

Another added, “Naya Rivera was a singer, not just an actress. She was a two time Grammy nominee. Had a career that spanned more than two decades. She died saving her son’s life. The fact that the @RecordingAcad didn’t see fit to include her in the In Memoriam section is disgraceful. #GRAMMYs.” Although Rivera wasn’t included in the broadcast ceremony, E! News notes that her name is listed in the 63rd Grammy Awards program book along with dozens of others.

As we previously reported, Rivera, who was a two-time Grammy nominee, was confirmed dead on July 13, 2020 following a five-day search for her body in California’s Lake Piru. She was boating with her 4-year-old son when she went missing. Check out the Grammys’ In Memoriam tribute below:
