Nashville Teen Goes Viral After Emotional Drive-Thru Graduation Celebration
Although the pandemic has completely changed or put a halt to graduation ceremonies, students across the country are still celebrating their big milestones.

A family shared a sweet and emotional video of a North Nashville graduation which has now gone viral with more than 3 million views. The video that was taken at Pearl Cohn High School’s drive-thru graduation celebration, shows Dontrail Spencer receiving his diploma. While speaking with NewsChannel 5, Spencer explained,
“It was just an emotional day for me, to see myself graduate, I never thought I’d see myself in a cap and gown with a big diploma in my hand,” Spencer said. “It was emotional. I didn’t know what to say. I was speechless. All I could do was shed tears of joy, that was all I did.” Spencer’s mom, Tamika Hawkins added, “I was in the back seat sobbing, shouting and yelling.”
Fetuga is president of Gideon’s Army, an organization that works to keep kids off of the streets — was the one who shared the heartwarming video to the internet. She wrote in the caption of the Facebook video:
“My babies graduated!!! When our children graduate it means so much. They have fought through a system set against them. And won. We did this together— Dontrail, his mother, teachers, and Gideon’s Army. Please follow Gideon’s Army to support our mission to save our children.”
Although Spencer didn’t get the chance to formally walk on stage to collect his diploma he says he proud of himself to overcome obstacle to complet high school
“I could’ve been like any other kid on the streets,” Spencer said.
