NASCAR Driver Ray Ciccarelli Quitting Over Confederate Flag Ban

Just as NASCAR announced its new Confederate flag ban, one of its truck series drivers, Ray Ciccarelli, who has zero wins in the series, is quitting, citing the new ban as his reason.

While Ciccarelli joined the organization’s Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series in 2017, just three years later the 50-year-old driver is ready to throw away his career after NASCAR committed to removing all displays of the flag from its events and properties.

Taking to his Facebook on Wednesday evening (June 10), Ciccarelli stated, “Well its been a fun ride and dream come true but if this is the direction Nascar is headed we will not participate after 2020 season is over , i don’t believe in kneeling during Anthem nor taken ppl right to fly what ever flag they love. I could care less about the Confederate Flag but there are ppl that do and it doesn’t make them a racist all you are doing is f**king one group to cater to another and i ain’t spend the money we are to participate in any political BS!! So everything is for SALE!!”

Furthermore, Ciccarelli’s announcement arrives not only after the organization banned the flag, but after they were pushed by their only black full-time driver, Bubba Wallace.
